Lannthe Clever
Styled Founder of the line, in song
The songs say he winkled the Casterlys out of their Rock armed with nothing but wit and hair like beaten gold; the ledgers say nothing at all, which is how legends prefer it.
House Lannister, root and branch — 46 names across 7 generations, seated at Casterly Rock in The Westerlands. Each band below is a single generation, eldest first; the mono line beneath a name gives its parents, so the descent reads down the page. Dates follow the maesters, and where the songs outrun the records the chronicle hedges the legend as legend.

Styled King of the Rock
Wed a daughter of House Reyne of Castamere
First of Lann's line the histories will call King of the Rock. He wed a daughter of House Reyne, entering Castamere in the books as a vassal rather than a rival, and spent twenty years grinding down the Hooded King of the Banefort — the Rock has always kept long accounts.
Styled King of the Rock
Sailed for ruined Valyria to fill his holds with dragonlords' gold and never sent so much as a letter home. The Valyrian steel sword Brightroar went with him — a loss his house has mourned rather longer than the king.
Styled Last King of the Rock, first Lord of Casterly Rock
Rode onto the Field of Fire a king and off it a smaller and better-instructed man. He knelt; Aegon let him keep the Rock, if not the crown, and the family has counted it a fair trade ever since.
Styled Lord of Casterly Rock
Gave shelter to Queen Rhaena and her daughters and told King Maegor no — a course requiring either great courage or a very thick castle. He possessed both.
Styled Lord of Casterly Rock
Came to the Great Council of 101 AC with a retinue fit for a coronation, though he had but one vote to cast. The Rock has never traveled light.
Styled Lord of Casterly Rock
Wed Johanna of House Westerling
Declared for King Aegon II with commendable speed and died of it at the crossing of the Red Fork in 130 AC, leaving the west to his widow's abler keeping.
Styled Master of Ships, Master of Coin, Hand of the King
Twin to Lord Jason, he hid the crown's treasure so well that Rhaenyra's questioners ruined his face and health without ever finding the gold. He died Hand of the King, hooded, and undefeated in arithmetic.
Styled Lady of Casterly Rock, regent for her son
Wed Jason Lannister, Lord of Casterly Rock
Held the Rock while the Red Kraken burned Lannisport, then repaid the debt in kind: her hired swords reaped the Iron Islands, and a salt son of Dalton Greyjoy ended his days as her son's gelded fool.
Styled Lord of Casterly Rock
Parents Jason Lannister · Johanna Lannister
Came to his seat a boy under his mother's regency. The west was governed exceedingly well in those years, which tells the careful reader where the governing was done.
Styled Lord of Casterly Rock
Wed Cerissa of House Brax
Presided over a tidy and largely unremarkable lordship before the Great Spring Sickness carried him off in 210 AC — proof that even lions are mortal to small things.
Styled Ser; Lord of Casterly Rock
Parents Damon Lannister
A champion of the great tourney at Ashford Meadow, and dead under a cloud scarcely three years later, of causes the Rock has never much cared to discuss.
Styled Lady of Casterly Rock
Parents Tybolt Lannister
Lady of Casterly Rock at three years of age and dead within the year. Her uncle grieved efficiently, and inherited.
Styled Lord of Casterly Rock, sometime regent
Wed m. (1) Alysanne of House Farman, no issue; (2) Rohanne Webber, Lady of Coldmoat
Parents Damon Lannister
Ruled long and shrewdly and left the Rock's coffers fatter than he found them. The whispers that he cleared his own path to the lordship were never proven, which he would doubtless have entered under thrift.
Styled Squire to Lord Robert Reyne
Parents Gerold Lannister
Heir to the Rock and betrothed to Ellyn Reyne, he was slain at the Storming of Starpike in the Peake Uprising. His betrothed, undeterred, simply moved one twin down the ladder.
Styled Heir to Casterly Rock
Wed Ellyn of House Reyne
Parents Gerold Lannister
Set aside his own betrothal to wed his dead twin's, then fell in the Fourth Blackfyre Rebellion — leaving Ellyn Reyne a widow with no issue and undiminished ambitions.
Styled Lord of Casterly Rock
Wed Jeyne of House Marbrand
Parents Gerold Lannister
A kind man in a seat that punishes kindness: he laughed when they mocked him, forgave his debtors, and lent his authority out at no interest until his bannermen stopped repaying it. He died on the stair to his mistress's chamber, his heart giving out before his good humor did.
Styled Ser
Wed m. (1) Alys of House Stackspear, died in childbed; (2) Marla of House Prester
Parents Gerold Lannister
The youngest son, born scarce a year before his mother vanished, and wed twice at his family's arranging. The fuller lineages make him father to Joanna and Stafford — a point the novels neither confirm nor trouble to deny.
Styled Lord of Casterly Rock, Warden of the West, thrice Hand of the King
Wed Joanna Lannister, his cousin

Styled Lady of Casterly Rock
Wed Tywin Lannister, her cousin
Parents Jason Lannister
Tywin's cousin and the one creature in the Seven Kingdoms said to rule him. She died in 273 AC bringing forth the son her lord husband never forgave for the exchange.
Styled Ser; Lord Regent and Protector of the Realm

Styled Lady, by marriage, of House Frey
Wed Emmon Frey, second son of Lord Walder
Parents Tytos Lannister
Promised to Emmon Frey at seven — and the only soul in the hall, at seven, to tell Lord Tytos plainly that the match was beneath them. The marriage improved neither party, though it multiplied.
Styled Ser
Wed Darlessa of House Marbrand
Parents Tytos Lannister
Forever second at swords to a brother whom time had unfairly seeded ahead of him; he found what peace he found in the yard, and a pox found him in 283 AC.
Styled Ser
Parents Tytos Lannister
The laughing youngest, who sailed the Laughing Lion east in 292 AC to fetch Brightroar home from Valyria. Valyria, as is its custom, declined to issue a receipt.

Daughter of Ser Stafford, kept at the Rock; the chronicles have thus far required little of her, which in this family is a species of good fortune.
Parents Stafford Lannister
Cerenna's sister, likewise of the Rock's household, and likewise blessedly under-documented.

Dashed cards mark bastards and baseborn lines. Names shaded behind the veil belong to the present tale; unveil them only if you do not fear to know.

Where the records quarrel, contradict, or fall silent, this chronicle sets the arguments down rather than settling for you what the texts leave open.
No chronicle names the father of Lord Jason and Ser Tyland, the twins of the Dance; Lord Tymond held the Rock a generation before them, and the Citadel joins the two entries with a dotted line and a shrug.
The novels never name the father of Joanna and Stafford; the fuller lineage from the author's own hand (semi-canon) gives them to Ser Jason, Gerold's youngest son, by Marla Prester. The Citadel records it in pencil.
Lady Rohanne Webber, mother of all four of Lord Gerold's sons, vanished in 230 AC within a year of Jason's birth. Flight, murder, and stranger explanations each have their partisans, and none of them proof.
Ser Tybolt and his infant daughter Cerelle died within a year of one another, leaving the Rock to Gerold the Golden. Nothing was ever proven — which, the maesters note, is not the same as nothing having happened.
House Reyne of Castamere: Ellyn Reyne was betrothed to one Lannister heir and wed to the next, yet left issue by neither; when Ser Tywin drowned Castamere in 261 AC no Reyne claim survived to argue the point, though songs, unlike ledgers, are fond of survivors.
The paternity of Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen: the royal registry says Baratheon, the hair says Lannister, and the realm went to war over the discrepancy (spoiler-shielded above).
When precisely King Tommen II sailed Brightroar into the Smoking Sea is variously reckoned; all accounts agree only that neither king nor sword returned.
Houses Lannett, Lanny, and Lantell of Lannisport all claim descent from Lann the Clever's natural children — as, after a cup or three, does half of Lannisport.
This tree gathers every named Lannister the novels and their histories record — kings and lords, daughters and bastards, cadet offshoots and all. The maesters count only what the texts preserve; where a name survives without its deeds, the chronicle says as much rather than inventing the rest.
Each band down the page is one generation, eldest first. Beneath a name, the mono line names that person's parents, so descent reads from the top down. Dashed cards mark bastards and baseborn lines; cards behind the veil hold fates from the present tale, revealed only if you choose to unveil them.
House Lannister holds Casterly Rock. The tree opens with the earliest forebears the records name — legendary where the singers outrun the maesters, firmer once true dates begin — and this chronicle marks the myths as myths, never dressing a song up as a certainty.
A good many. Contested parentage, missing generations, bynames left unexplained, and legends the singers embroider all appear under 'What the maesters dispute' at the foot of this page, where the arguments are set down without pretending to close what the books leave open.
