Beric Dondarrion

the Lightning Lord

Life
date unrecorded — his true death comes only after six returns from death already granted him
House
House Dondarrion of Blackhaven, a marcher house of the Stormlands

Last confirmed leading the Brotherhood without Banners in the riverlands, his memory badly frayed by his repeated brushes with death, but his sense of purpose — dispensing what justice a lordless war allows — intact.

Sent by Eddard Stark to bring Gregor Clegane to the Iron Throne's justice for the massacre at his own family seat, Beric Dondarrion, Lord of Blackhaven, never reached his quarry — an ambush at the Mummer's Ford scattered his party and killed him outright, the first of a death toll that, for Beric alone, would eventually run to seven. Thoros of Myr's prayers brought him back that first time and five times more, and each resurrection has cost him a piece of himself that does not regrow with the flesh: he no longer remembers the woman he was once betrothed to marry, nor much else of the lord he was before the lightning-bolt sigil on his shield started meaning something closer to legend than heraldry.
