Kovarro

a bloodrider of Daenerys Targaryen (television only)

House
no house recorded; a name the novels do not use

This entry exists to note a divergence rather than to report a fate: readers of the novels will not meet a bloodrider named Kovarro there.

The Citadel's chronicle holds to the novels as its primary record, and on that standard Kovarro is a substitution rather than a person — the show's replacement for Jhogo as the third of Daenerys's bloodriders, reportedly renamed by the production to avoid confusing viewers between 'Jhogo' and 'Jhaqo,' an unrelated Dothraki ko who appears later in the story. Where the books have Jhogo scouting the Red Waste, carrying Daenerys's silver whip, and helping disarm a murderous warlock in Qarth, the adaptation assigns some portion of those beats to Kovarro instead.

The arc of Kovarro

This carries the character’s road through the published novels. Read on only if you do not fear to know.

These partings name deaths, endings, and roads not yet ridden in the books. Unveil them only if both roads are known to you — or if you do not fear to know.

Is Kovarro in the A Song of Ice and Fire books?

No. He was created for the television series as the third of Daenerys's bloodriders; the novels give that role to a character named Jhogo instead.

Who is the book equivalent of Kovarro?

Jhogo — one of Daenerys Targaryen's three bloodriders, sworn to her after Khal Drogo's death alongside Aggo and Rakharo, and still alive and in her service as of the last published novel.
