Eight hundred riders under a captain who, by the queen's own estimate, looked rather more shoemaker than soldier.
History
This carries the band's part in the published novels. Read on only if you do not fear to know.
Commanded by Gylo Rhegan, a quiet man who spoke in murmurs, the Long Lances numbered among the four sellsword companies Yunkai hired against Daenerys Targaryen's Meereen. Sent to close the Khyzai Pass while a Stormcrow detachment rode for Lhazar, the Long Lances instead found the Stormcrows falling upon their own camp in the night, a defeat the record does not linger over kindly.
Daenerys, having already turned the Windblown, worked through Ser Barristan Selmy to sound out Gylo Rhegan for a similar change of allegiance; the published chronicle has not yet confirmed whether that overture succeeded, and this account will not claim more certainty than the record allows.
These partings name deaths, endings, and roads not yet ridden in the books. Unveil them only if both roads are known to you — or if you do not fear to know.
